Guam Radiology Consultants (GRC) is the only full-service interventional outpatient radiology center on the island of Guam and their road to becoming fully paperless was an arduous one. Their first attempt with another vendor was unsuccessful and their new search led them to RamSoft’s PowerServer RIS/PACS. Guam Radiology Consultants was looking for a solution that could manage their practice’s workflow, including electronic forms and a Referring Physician Portal whereby patient studies and reports could be quickly and easily shared with referring physician offices.

“RamSoft was able to consolidate numerous archives into a single database and provide us a seamless way to distribute patient reports and studies to our referring physicians,” says Roy Adonay, Chief Operating Officer. “Additionally, our practice is now 100% paperless thanks to PowerServer RIS/PACS automated workflow. We can receive referrals electronically and manage patient registration and scheduling with a few clicks rather than wading through numerous forms. We have already experienced productivity gains which lead to faster and better care as a result of this implementation.”

Nathaniel Berg, MD, adds, “I hope you know I love RamSoft and know it is the best RIS/PACS product. One of the best aspects is indeed the ability to provide feedback and anticipate problems to be addressed.”

Steve Amos, IT Project Coordinator, added that running their business prior to installing RamSoft’s PowerServer RIS/PACS was filled with long days and nights to ensure their patients received proper care. Before RamSoft, the average work week for the IT Director was 6-7 days a week/10-12 hours a day. Since the implementation, the IT Director has been able to reduce his hours from 6:30 am to 1:30 pm Monday through Friday, instead 6:30 am to 6pm, without a decrease in studies. “RamSoft’s worklist and document manager organizes our days into an easy to read format that allows us to do more with less,” says Mr. Amos.

To ensure the transition was as seamless as possible, RamSoft Implementation and Training specialists were deployed to Guam to ensure all members of the Medical, Administrative and IT staff were adequately trained before the software went live.

“It is very important for us that our clients receive exceptional training before the software goes live,” says Vijay Ramanathan, President and CEO of RamSoft. “To ensure our new clients are comfortable with our product even after we are off-site, we train key staff members as Key Contacts so the site always has resident experts on hand.”

Other key features that influenced the buying decision were, PowerServer RIS/PACS’s read-from-anywhere web-based technology, management reports to track staff and departmental turnaround times, full-featured and customizable PowerReader diagnostic reading software, and HL7 integration with GRC’s preferred billing software.
