Taking care and the right steps when deciding to switch your RIS/PACS system is crucial to making an informed and meticulous approach to finding the correct one that suits your current needs as well as having the potential to grow and transform as your company grows or changes. Change is not always easy, but as a business grows and grows –sometimes you find yourself in a situation much like a starter home – you simply outgrow your RIS/PACS solution.

Our old system was lacking several key components. From the reporting functionality to patient scheduling, it never felt like a complete system. The system shortcomings were cumbersome and time-consuming which impacted the day to day operation and the system lacked efficient business analytics and reporting functionality. What was presented to us in the initial product demonstration with our old vendor was magnificent; but sadly, they made promises that were never kept and system updates that were forever delayed. It was time for a change! We began with a list of dozens of vendors, weeding them out one by one. We had a definite need and knew the features that were must-haves and what we were really looking for in an overall system. By the time we watched countless demos, viewed tons of brochures, listened to a zillion sales ‘spiels’ (sorted through all the fluff), we were ready to make our decision. Our decision was RamSoft. It just made sense. They had all the features we were looking for and more. They also routinely apply system updates and introduce new features, are keen to evolve with the regularly evolving healthcare market and are ultimately always looking for ways to enhance and improve their products.
Our decision was RamSoft. It just made sense. They had all the features we were looking for and more.
From the very beginning, working with the RamSoft sales team and all the way through the implementation process and ‘Go Live’ it was utterly seamless. That being said, we knew we needed to accept the fact that there are always at least minor hiccups in the process of any major change, and it is just how you move through them and resolve them that matters most. Our company stakeholders were very pleased with all the help, support, and advice we were given by each member of the RamSoft team – not to mention guidance through the ‘hiccups.’ The experience was nothing short of excellent! The project was kept on track as we hoped and the RamSoft project team were thorough and looked at each aspect of our organization, worked with our workflow, and even made suggestions based on their collective experience that made us ultimately much more efficient than we were previously. The communication throughout the project was also excellent. There were regular status call updates every week, so we stayed updated on momentum. And if there happened to be any issues, we received immediate notification and answers that helped alleviate any of our concerns. We stayed fully informed throughout and could broadcast the status of the project consistently to the company stakeholders; so they, in turn, were happy and pleased with the progress. Migrating the priors from our old system was even easy! They were able to retrieve the old studies over the course of the implementation process so in what appeared to be in a ‘blink of an eye’ all the studies were migrated, the interfaces completed to link us to our billing solution and our teleradiology reading group and we were up and running on RamSoft!
Everyone’s comment to me is always “RamSoft is so user-friendly.”
Since our smooth ‘go live’ we have not had any distressing issues and have been able to comprehensively train the staff at all our facilities on RamSoft. It doesn’t hurt that they have a broad e-learning library to assist with training containing perfectly bite-sized video vignettes of a minute to 3-minute presentations on every feature and functionality in the system. This makes it easy to get new staff up to speed even before they arrive for their first day on the job or provide those staff members out on family or maternity leave an opportunity to refresh at their convenience. Everyone’s comment to me is always “RamSoft is so user-friendly.” That it is and it makes me smile as my title is Operations Manager and my job is to run the day to day operations as smoothly as possible. RamSoft helps me every day since my technologists and front desk staffs are happier which leads to better productivity and I can also pull the information out of the system that I need – when I need it – to be able to see in real-time what is happening on a daily or even hourly basis. We are very happy we made the decision to choose RamSoft as our RIS/PACS solution and we look forward to what the system will mean for us in future days, months and years because we are confident that as we grow – RamSoft will grow with us!
